Sovereign Nature Initiative

Sovereign Nature Initiative empowers companies to generate value for biodiversity and report their impact in a creative and credible way.

At the Sovereign Nature Initiative, the objective is to reshape the economics of ecology by identifying strategies to finance and scale projects that promote life sustainability on Earth. Currently, many projects focused on ecological stewardship face significant funding shortages. Biodiversity restoration efforts primarily rely on donations and financial support from philanthropic entities, public institutions, and various donors. Private investments in nature, referred to as "private contributions toward nature-positive initiatives," are crucial in bridging this funding gap, estimated at around $700 billion annually. The Decentralised Ecological Economics Protocol (DEEP) was collaboratively developed alongside the Registry for Ecological Asset Linking (REAL) to ensure that private commitments hold value and eventually become a pivotal means of contributing to global biodiversity restoration. This protocol and interface enable the effective integration of ecological impact data into the digital realm. This innovative approach creates new avenues for funding while attributing digital assets with tangible, real-world significance. Importantly, this methodology allows ecological stewards to promote their work without hindering their on-site efforts, establishing a harmonious equilibrium between financial sustainability and biodiversity restoration initiatives.
